Solar Panels

How much do solar panels cost on the Sunshine Coast? +

Solar system costs vary based on size and quality. As a general guide:

  • 6.6kW system: $4,500 - $7,000 (after STCs)
  • 10kW system: $7,000 - $11,000 (after STCs)
  • 13kW system: $9,000 - $14,000 (after STCs)

We use premium components (Jinko, Trina, Aiko panels) and all prices include installation, grid connection, and warranties. Get a free quote for an exact price tailored to your property.

How long does solar installation take? +

Most residential solar installations are completed in 1-2 days. The typical timeline is:

  • Day 1: Site assessment and quote
  • Week 1-2: Permits and grid approval
  • Install day: 1-2 days on-site work
  • Week 2-3: Final inspections and grid connection

Total time from quote to generating power is typically 3-4 weeks.

Will solar panels work on cloudy days? +

Yes! Solar panels still generate power on cloudy days, just at reduced capacity (typically 10-25% of full output). The Sunshine Coast has excellent solar conditions year-round, averaging 6+ peak sun hours per day.

What size solar system do I need? +

System size depends on your electricity usage and roof space:

  • Small household (10-15kWh/day): 5-6.6kW system
  • Medium household (20-30kWh/day): 8-10kW system
  • Large household (40+kWh/day): 13kW+ system

We'll analyze your bills and roof to recommend the optimal size.

Battery Storage

How much do battery storage systems cost? +

Battery system costs vary based on capacity and brand. As a general guide:

  • Small system (7-10kWh): $8,000 - $12,000 (after STCs)
  • Medium system (15-17kWh): $14,000 - $20,000 (after STCs)
  • Large system (23-25kWh): $20,000 - $29,000 (after STCs)

We offer both GoodWe (excellent value) and Sigenergy (premium) battery systems. All prices include installation, hybrid inverter, monitoring system, and comprehensive warranties. STC rebates (up to $15,000) are already deducted. Get a free quote for an exact price tailored to your energy needs.

Is a solar battery worth it in Queensland? +

Yes! Battery storage delivers excellent value with both immediate and long-term benefits:

  • STC rebates reduce upfront cost by $1,500-$3,000
  • Save 70-90% on electricity bills
  • Backup power during blackouts
  • Energy independence from the grid
  • Future-proof against rising power prices
  • Maximize solar value by storing energy instead of exporting at low rates

Typical payback period is 6-8 years, with batteries lasting 10-15 years.

GoodWe vs Sigenergy batteries - which should I choose? +

Both are quality battery systems we trust and install. The choice depends on your budget and requirements:

GoodWe Lynx Home Series (Budget-Friendly):

  • 8.3kWh per module, expandable to 50kWh+
  • Proven reliability and solid performance
  • 10-year warranty
  • Great value for money - best for budget-conscious buyers
  • AC or DC coupled options
  • Ideal for standard residential installs

Sigenergy SigenStor (Premium Option):

  • 7.8kWh per module, highly modular (up to 62kWh)
  • Advanced AI energy management system
  • 15-year warranty (5 years longer than GoodWe)
  • Sleek, compact design
  • Superior monitoring and smart features
  • Better for complex setups or those wanting cutting-edge tech
  • Higher upfront cost, but longer warranty period

Our recommendation: If you're on a budget and want reliable performance, GoodWe is excellent value. If you want the latest technology, longer warranty, and don't mind paying a premium, Sigenergy is the better choice. We'll help you decide based on your specific needs during your free consultation.

Can I add a battery to my existing solar system? +

Yes! Most solar systems can be upgraded to include battery storage. In most cases, we'll remove your existing inverter and install a modern all-in-one hybrid inverter with integrated battery storage.

Why replace the inverter?

  • All-in-one systems are more efficient (DC-coupled)
  • Better integration between solar and battery
  • Cleaner installation with less equipment
  • Advanced monitoring and energy management
  • Often more cost-effective than AC-coupled retrofit

We'll assess your existing solar panels and design the best battery upgrade solution for your home. Your panels stay in place - we just upgrade the inverter and add batteries.

Rebates & Incentives

What solar rebates are available in Queensland? +

Current Queensland solar incentives include:

  • Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs): Federal rebate worth $1,500-$3,500 depending on system size (already included in our quotes)
  • Feed-in Tariff: Get paid 6-8c/kWh for excess solar exported to the grid

All quotes include available rebates - we handle the paperwork for you.

Do batteries qualify for STC rebates? +

Yes! Battery storage systems are eligible for Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs) under the federal renewable energy scheme.

Battery STC rebate details (until May 1, 2026):

  • Eligible capacity: Up to 50kWh (batteries installed before May 1, 2026)
  • Available for new battery installations (with or without solar)
  • Rebate value varies based on battery capacity and location zone
  • Rebate value: Up to $15,000 for maximum eligible capacity
  • Already deducted from our battery quotes - no separate application needed
  • We create and assign the certificates on your behalf

Important: The 50kWh eligibility cap may change after May 1, 2026. Contact us for the latest information and to lock in your rebate before any policy changes.

Installation & Service

What's the maximum inverter size I can install at my property? +

The maximum inverter capacity depends on your local network's hosting capacity. Energex guidelines are:

  • Single-phase connection: Maximum 5kW inverter (can have more solar panels)
  • Three-phase connection: Maximum 15kW inverter per phase (up to 30kW total with export limiting)
  • Export limiting: Allows larger systems with controlled grid export

Check your property's capacity: Use Energex's Network Capacity Map to see what size system your street can support. We can also check this for you during your free quote.

Note: These limits may change based on your specific location and network conditions. We handle all approvals and ensure your system is compliant.

Do I need a 3-phase system? +

Most residential properties on the Sunshine Coast have single-phase power and work perfectly with standard solar systems. You only need a 3-phase inverter if:

  • Your property has 3-phase power (check your switchboard or meter)
  • You're installing a very large system (>15kW)
  • You have significant 3-phase loads (large machinery, commercial equipment)

We'll assess your property during the site visit and recommend the right setup.
